Literature Review on Innovations in Kidney Disease Diagnostics and Treatments
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) involves progressive loss of kidney function resulting in the need for interventions such as dialysis or kidney transplant. Despite these interventions, mortality rates remain significantly high for patients undergoing treatment. This review aims to explore the challenges with existing diagnostic such as Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) test, complications associated with dialysis treatments, and how innovative kidney function diagnostic strategies such as CKD biomarker specific sensors can be used to modernize and personalize treatment plans to reduce risk to patient health.
